Your imagination can be golden
J.K. Rowling was stuck on a delayed train at King’s Cross Station in 1990. She used the time to jot down an idea she had for a book series featuring a group of children at a wizard school called Hogwarts. That imagined world became the famous Harry Potter series.
17 years later, Rowling is the first writer to have become a billionaire from writing books. (The Chicken Soup guys are sure to follow soon.)
Isn’t it amazing that something she dreamed up in her imagination is now real in the world in books, movies, websites, blogs, action figures, and so on.
This is just a reminder that the imagination is not just an airy thing – it can lead to real things in the world and to money in the bank account.
Of course, imagination has to be wedded to action and persistence, but without imagination nothing would be created.
Go write that book you’ve been imagining, okay?

I agree. Yet it somewhat reminds me of a quiz I saw in a 1995 edition of Inc Magazine titled “Are you an Entrepenuer?” I was just starting my company so I figured I would read it while I waited in line to purchase office supplies.
The first question was, “Are you an idea person?” The options for answers were Yes and No. The analysis of answers was classic…
Question #1: If you answered “YES” to this question, that’s great! Now, take your idea and give it to an entrepenuer as her or she will be required to make you idea fly.
It’s easy to say “there ought to be an X to do Y, we’d make millions!” But it entirely different to consider x, plan x, test x, replan x, build x, get people to buy x and manage the cashflow of building x and selling x.
Same for writing. It’s easy sometimes to come up with ideas, it can be hard to make it enjoyable to read.
